No, the design must be novel and not disclosed to the public anywhere in the world before the filing date. Publicly displaying, selling, or advertising the product before filing destroys novelty and disqualifies the design from registration.
Design registration is valid for 10 years from the date of registration, and can be extended by an additional 5 years (totaling 15 years) by filing an extension application with the prescribed fee before expiry.
