International Patent Filing (PCT/WIPO) support from our Patent team, handled end-to-end as part of our Intellectual Property practice.
The PCT International Application is filed within 12 months of the Indian priority date. The International Search Report (ISR) is issued within 3 to 4 months of the international filing date. National Phase entry in designated countries must be completed within 30 or 31 months from the priority date. Total timeline from priority filing to patent grant varies by country — typically 3 to 5 years.
We make legal and intellectual property filings seamless, secure, and fully transparent. Here is how we handle your assignment from start to finish:
Understand your goals, check eligibility, and draft the filing roadmap.
Collect required records and conduct compliance checks for errors.
Draft and submit applications to the registry within 48 business hours.
Monitor application progress and respond to office actions/objections.
Handover certified registrations and provide post-filing support.
The PCT route delays the decision and cost of entering individual countries by up to 30/31 months from the priority date. This provides valuable time to evaluate commercial potential, secure funding, and receive the International Search Report before committing to expensive national filings.
The PCT has over 155 contracting states. A single PCT application effectively preserves your right to seek patent protection in all member countries. However, you only pay national filing fees for the countries you actually enter during the national phase.
As a first step, Indian residents must either file first in India or obtain a Foreign Filing License (FFL) from the Indian Patent Office before filing directly with WIPO. We handle the FFL process or the Indian first-filing strategy to ensure compliance with Section 39 of the Patents Act.
